Welcome
Tune in to the sound of your soul with a relaxing sound bath by Juliet Cohen
Hi and welcome to Float Studio.
I offer a space to help you connect more deeply with yourself, realign your energy, and reach a place of profound relaxation.
Get ready to float! I invite you to open your heart, lie back and listen.
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a very relaxing, fully immersive experience, which helps to slow down the mind, let go of distracting thoughts, and fully connect with yourself.
During the sound bath you will feel super comfortable, as you are cocooned in a candlelit room, lying on a cosy mat and covered with warm blankets.
Once we have set an intention for our session, I will use various healing instruments, including Himalayan and crystal singing bowls, gongs and Koshi chimes. These instruments use sound, vibration and frequency to help you attain a meditative state without having to try.
By working with the chakra system (energy centres in the body) a sound bath helps restore balance to your mind, body and soul.
About me
Ever since my first experience of yoga in Bali, over 20 years ago, I have felt a deep connection to the practice and to the hypnotic sound of the Himalayan singing bowls.
I have practised yoga and meditation regularly for around fifteen years, and hold a 200 hour teaching certificate with Yoga Alliance USA. I am also a fully qualified sound bath practitioner, accredited worldwide by the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.
In a previous life I was the beauty editor of Tatler magazine, and have written books for British Vogue. I have always loved music, and have played the piano since childhood.
Cacao and Sage
Cacao Ceremony:
I begin every sound bath with the delicious taste of cacao. I use ceremonial grade cacao from the Ashaninka tribe in Peru, which is deeply rooted in Mayan and Aztec tradition. Cacao is considered a feminine, heart rooted medicine which helps connect us to ourselves and to the universe. We give thanks for this as we enjoy drinking the cacao, remembering that gratitude is one of the major vibrations available to humankind.
Sage Smudging:
This is an ancient tradition that involves burning sacred herbs to cleanse a space, ourselves, and to bring in positive energy to a person or place. I usually begin or end a session by burning sage, depending on what feels right in the moment.
Instruments
The gong is thought to have originated in the Bronze Age, and its other worldly sounds have been used for their mystical properties and to evoke deep meditation.
Himalayan singing bowls date back to around 500 BC, and are often associated with Buddhist meditation. They have gained popularity in the West for their resonant sound and healing effects.
Crystal singing bowls are produced from pure quartz crystal. They have a rich, vibrant quality which helps you float into a dream like state.
Koshi chimes produce a magical, uplifting sound, and relate to the elements of earth, air, fire and water. They are used at the end of a sound bath to bring you back gently into the present moment.
I also use tuning forks, the ocean drum, and other percussive instruments during sessions.
